Ukrainian air defenses down 101 Russian drones in overnight barrage
Russian forces attacked Ukraine overnight into Tuesday with four Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 114 strike drones; air defenses downed all four missiles and 101 drones, the Ukrainian Air Force reported.
The missiles were launched from Russia’s Rostov and Voronezh oblasts, while drones — about 70 of them Shaheds — came from Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk and occupied Crimea.
Aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups and unmanned systems repelled the assault across the north, south and east.
Four missiles and 13 drones struck 15 locations, with debris from downed targets falling at two more sites.
Consequences of the attack
The city of Dnipro faced a heavy drone barrage, damaging the local Suspilne and Ukrainian Radio building, a transport and private enterprise, an administrative building, auto shop, stores, kiosks, a restaurant, six apartment blocks, garages and dozens of vehicles.
Ukrainian Railways said blast waves shattered windows in train cars and at the station; partial power outages forced the use of reserve locomotives.
In Kharkiv Oblast, a Russian missile hit the village of Berestyn, killing a 17-year-old girl and wounding nine others.
