Russia attacks Ukraine with 156 drones, Kyiv and Odesa among cities targeted
The Russian military launched 156 drones at Ukrainian regions overnight into Monday. The air defense forces neutralized 135 of them, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
About 110 of the air targets were Shahed drones, and the rest were Gerberas and other types of drones. They flew from Millerovo, Kursk, Oryol, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Chauda, which is in temporarily occupied Crimea.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups.
According to preliminary data, as of 8:00 a.m., air defenses had shot down/suppressed 135 drones in the north, south, east, and center of the country.
There were also 16 UAV hits in 11 locations, as well as debris falling in two places. The attack is still ongoing.
Consequences of the attack
As Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said, the UAV hit a non-residential building in the Solomyanskyi district, a fire broke out there, but it has already been contained.
At another address in the same district, debris fell near a residential building. The blast wave broke out windows, and a fire broke out there as well.
Russian troops attacked the civilian infrastructure of the town of Novhorod-Siverskyi, located in Chernihiv Oblast, according to the head of the district military administration, Oleksandr Seliverstov.
Regional energy company Chernihivoblenergo reported that an important energy facility was under attack, resulting in a number of settlements being de-energized.
The city of Odesa was also hit. Two people were injured, an infrastructure facility and residential buildings were damaged. In addition, part of the Peresypskyi district was temporarily left without electricity.
