Russia launches 82 drones overnight; Ukraine downs 61, hits reported in multiple regions

Russian troops attacked Ukrainian regions with 82 drones overnight into Thursday. Air defense forces neutralized 61 aerial targets, according to Ukraine’s Air Force.

The Russians launched about 60 Shahed drones, including jet-powered variants, with the rest being Gerbera, Italmas and other types of UAVs. They were launched from Kursk, Oryol, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Millerovo, as well as from Hvardiyske in temporarily occupied Crimea and from occupied Donetsk.

The aerial assault was repelled by aviation, surface-to-air missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups.

As of 8:30 a.m., preliminary data showed that air defense downed or suppressed 61 UAVs.

There were also confirmed hits by 21 strike drones at 13 locations and debris falls in three places. The attack is ongoing.

Aftermath of the attack

In Kyiv’s Solomyanskyi district, debris from a Russian drone struck a 15-story residential building, the State Emergency Service reported. The impact occurred at the level of the technical floor, causing destruction of a wall over an area of about 4 square meters.

In Kyiv Oblast’s Bucha district, Russian forces damaged eight private homes. Windows were shattered, and facades and roofs were damaged, said regional military administration head Mykola Kalashnyk.

In Lviv, during the Russian attack, a drone crashed onto a children’s playground near the Stepan Bandera monument.

The blast wave shattered windows in nearby buildings and injured a tractor driver who was clearing snow, though he is reported to be fine. As a result of the attack, the city temporarily closed Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytskyi Street.

In addition, the aggressor attacked the Putyvl territorial community in Sumy Oblast, reported regional military administration head Oleg Hryhorov. The enemy struck a house, injuring a family: four children suffered acute stress reactions and minor bodily injuries.

According to Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration head Oleksandr Hanzha, the Russian army directed drones at the Novopillia territorial community in the Kryvyi Rih district. Infrastructure was damaged there.

The city of Nikopol was shelled by heavy artillery. Three private homes, an outbuilding, a garage and a gas pipeline were damaged.

In Kharkiv Oblast’s Velykyi Burluk settlement, Russians struck a private home with a drone. The explosion caused a fire in the house covering more than 100 square meters.
