Ukraine's General Staff confirms damage to Russian A-50 radar plane in earlier Novgorod Oblast strike
Ukrainian forces damaged a Russian A-50 airborne early warning and control aircraft during a strike on an aviation repair plant in Russia’s Novgorod Oblast on March 17, the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces reported.
The A-50 — a long-range radar detection plane — was undergoing maintenance or possibly awaiting modernization at the 123rd Aviation Repair Plant in Staraya Russa when it was hit.
The General Staff had previously confirmed strikes on the facility’s infrastructure several days ago.
Overnight into March 20, Ukrainian forces struck additional Russian military targets.
In occupied Luhansk Oblast, the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant — involved in producing artillery shell casings and repairing armored steel for occupation forces — was hit.
In the occupied part of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, infrastructure at the Vostochny training ground was also damaged.
