Russian strike kills Varus supermarket workers at Dnipro distribution center
A Russian attack on Dnipro on the evening of May 5 struck a distribution center belonging to Ukrainian supermarket chain Varus, killing workers and injuring others, the company and co-owner Ruslan Shostak reported.
"The enemy strike on May 5, 2026, took the lives of people who every day worked to deliver food to people's homes. This is an irreparable loss," the company said in a statement.
Shostak said some of the injured remain hospitalized in serious condition.
The distribution center sustained significant structural damage, and the company warned customers to expect possible supply delays and reduced product availability.
The Varus facility was among the targets hit during a broader Russian attack on Dnipro that evening. As of Wednesday, the strike had killed four people and wounded 19, with 15 remaining hospitalized, regional military governor Oleksandr Hanzha reported.
