"Crimea will turn into an island." Ukraine promises a logistical lockdown for Russia

Ukraine's Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov says Crimea is turning into an island due to the large-scale isolation of the peninsula by drones. According to him, this could lead to unexpected consequences for Russians.

“Basically, Crimea is being isolated by drones. And it looks as though, in the near future, Crimea will turn into an island. And this could have some very unexpected consequences for the Russians,” said Fedorov in an interview with the YouTube channel PRESSING.

The minister explained that the large-scale supply of drones to the front line had been made possible by a “risky” funding decision, which the president had backed in February. Due to a lack of funds and delays in international aid, the Ministry of Defence had redirected domestic funds from the end of the financial year towards urgent procurement.

“In four months, we have procured more drones than in the whole of last year. And, note this, our focus has been on fibre-optic drones, on ‘middle strike’ drones. We have already contracted for 300% more than in the whole of last year. But we have only just begun the procurement process. We are still continuing our work on ‘middle strike’,” he said.

Ukraine’s Defence Ministry is also launching a “logistical lockdown” programme aimed at scaling up Ukrainian strikes at Russian warehouses, command posts and supply routes in the rear.

“Hell is about to begin for the Russians,” Fedorov added.

Earlier, Robert Brovdi (Madyar), commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, said that Ukraine could isolate Crimea by taking full control of the key Novorossiya highway.

In addition, drone operators from the 3rd Regiment of the Special Operations Forces (SOF) reported that they had established aerial control over the supply routes along the Melitopol–Chonhar route, which is vital to the Russian forces.
