Two conscription officers injured in Lviv clashes: details of the conflict
Two military conscription officers were injured during clashes with civilians in Lviv's Sykhiv microdistrict on Wednesday evening, when a crowd overturned a service vehicle and tore uniforms off the officers, local officials said at a briefing on Thursday.
Authorities in Lviv are investigating the clash between civilians and military conscription office personnel.
Details were shared at a briefing by Taras Hren, chief of staff of the Lviv Oblast Military Administration; Borys Prutskykh, head of the Sykhivskyi district conscription office; and Petro Storozhuk, deputy head of the Lviv conscription office.
According to Hren, the confrontation began after a notification team approached a man to verify his military registration documents.
"During the notification procedure, a conflict arose with civilians who were not involved. Given all the circumstances, this conflict escalated into a difficult situation that lasted roughly six to eight hours," he said.
Storozhuk, the deputy head of the regional conscription office, said the 30-year-old man agreed to accompany officials to the recruitment center because he had been listed as wanted. At the same time, a crowd of civilians surrounded a second conscription office vehicle that remained at the scene.
"When officials asked the crowd to let them leave the scene, people refused, and the conflict broke out. They started damaging the vehicle, and the crowd kept growing," Storozhuk said.
Prutskykh, head of the Sykhivskyi district conscription office, said there had initially been three conscription office vehicles at the scene: one left with the man who was detained, a second departed early in the conflict, and the third was overturned by the crowd.
Videos circulated on Telegram channels showed unidentified individuals tearing uniforms off the servicemembers. According to Prutskykh, the two injured officers were taken to a trauma clinic. "They're alive and well. They have no serious physical injuries," he said.
He also addressed a video that appeared to show a serviceman striking a member of the crowd, saying it was an act of self-defense, though the matter would be fully clarified through an internal investigation. Law enforcement is currently working to establish all the circumstances of the incident and identify those involved.
