Russian drones strike Odesa and Zaporizhzhia apartment buildings

Russian forces launched 134 attack drones and three missiles at Ukraine overnight, with air defenses downing the majority, according to Ukraine's Air Force Command.

Ukrainian air defenses intercepted or suppressed three guided air-launched Kh-59/69 missiles and 123 drones, the military said. The assault began around 6 p.m. the previous evening, with the missiles fired from temporarily occupied Crimea and the drones including Shahed models (some jet-powered), Gerberas, Italmas, and decoy types.

Six strike drones hit five locations, while debris from downed drones fell at four others, according to preliminary data as of 9:30 a.m.

Aftermath of the assault

In Odesa Oblast, a drone struck the upper floors of a high-rise apartment building in the Odesa district during the evening attack. Another drone damaged the roof of a construction supermarket.

Early on July 13, Russian forces launched a repeat strike on Odesa, targeting the city's transport infrastructure. At least three men aged 58, 62 and 66 were injured and hospitalized with moderate wounds.

In Zaporizhzhia, a Russian drone hit a high-rise apartment building on the evening of July 12, sparking a fire. As of 8 a.m. on July 13, nine people were reported wounded, including a 15-year-old boy. Information on casualties is still being clarified.
