Russia attacks port infrastructure in Mykolaiv, killing 2 and damaging civilian ships

Russian forces attacked port infrastructure in Mykolaiv on the morning of July 17, killing two people and damaging civilian vessels, according to the regional prosecutor’s office.

The strike hit three civilian ships flying foreign flags that were moored at port enterprises, prosecutors said.

Authorities said people were on board one of the vessels, and two Ukrainian citizens were killed.

Investigators have opened a pre-trial investigation under Part 2 of Article 438 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code — war crimes resulting in death.

Recent Russian attacks across Ukraine

On Thursday evening, Odesa was under Russian attack. The aggressor targeted the Khadzhybeyskyi district of the city. Two civilians were killed and eight more people were injured when a residential building was hit.  

At about 3 a.m., Russian forces also attacked Sumy, carrying out five strikes with guided bombs on the city center and outskirts, acting Mayor Artem Kobzar said.

As a result, more than 100 windows were blown out in an apartment building. Emergency services were working at the scene, and a response headquarters had been set up.

In Kharkiv Oblast, the Kholodnohirskyi district came under Russian attack on the evening of July 15. A 50-year-old man was injured in a drone strike, regional governor Oleg Synegubov said.

Russian drones also attacked the Cherkasy and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts overnight. Regional administration heads Ihor Taburets and Oleksandr Hanzha reported no casualties.
