Ukrainian special services report ‘targeted operations’ against collaborators in occupied territories, Zelensky says
Ukrainian special services reported on the implementation of “targeted operations” against collaborators in Russian-occupied territories, including Sevastopol, President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
Zelensky said the special services delivered a separate briefing during a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief on operations targeting collaborators involved in Russian strikes against Ukraine and Ukrainians.
“Accountability for collaborators is inevitable,” Zelensky said.
His statement comes a day after a Russian serviceman was killed in an explosion in occupied Sevastopol.
Russian media reported that an explosive device detonated as the man was walking down a street. Unconfirmed reports identified the serviceman as Robert Shagaiev, a former commander of the Ukrainian submarine Zaporizhzhia who defected to Russia following its occupation of Crimea in 2014.
Shagaiev later served with Russia’s Black Sea Fleet. His unit has been involved in strikes against Ukraine.
Russian authorities detained a Russian woman born in 1994 in connection with the explosion. She was placed in pretrial detention for two months on terrorism charges.
Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) claimed the woman had carried out the bombing “on the instructions of Ukrainian special services.”
Ukraine has not publicly confirmed involvement in the explosion or linked it to the “targeted operations” mentioned by Zelensky.
