Putin says Russian forces ordered to prepare mass strikes on Ukraine's energy sector
Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russian forces had been instructed to prepare and carry out mass strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, Russian state-run news agencies TASS and RIA Novosti reported.
“They are striking our facilities, and they will get a response,” Putin said, portraying the planned attacks as retaliation for Ukrainian strikes on targets in Russia.
Putin also accused Ukraine of “state terrorism” over Ukrainian drone strikes in Russia and said Moscow would not negotiate with what he called “terrorists.”
At the same time, he described the negotiating process over the war as currently “frozen,” saying any future talks must have “concrete substance.”
Putin also said U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were “always welcome guests in Russia” and that Moscow was happy to work with them.
Russia has repeatedly targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure with missiles and drones throughout its full-scale invasion, causing widespread damage to power generation and distribution facilities.
