Russian drone strike on shopping mall in Sumy kills 2, injures 20

A Russian drone struck a shopping mall in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy on the evening of Sept. 9, killing two people and injuring at least 20 others, regional authorities said.

According to Sumy Regional Military Administration head Oleh Hryhorov, the victims were a 21-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman.

Among the injured are three girls aged 15 to 16. Four adults remain in serious or critical condition, authorities said.

The strike damaged the shopping mall building and cars parked nearby, and sparked a fire at the site.

Emergency crews continued rescue and recovery operations after the attack. Authorities also warned residents about the risk of repeat strikes and urged them to stay away from the area.
