Ukraine installs anti-drone protection along more than 2,000 kilometers of frontline roads

Ukraine has installed anti-drone protection along more than 2,000 kilometers (1,240 miles) of frontline logistics routes to reduce the threat from drones to military transport and civilian evacuations, the Defense Ministry said.

Ukraine’s State Special Transport Service has equipped 2,013 kilometers of logistics routes with anti-drone protection since the program began in April 2025, according to the ministry.

The work has been completed on 41 sections of road and is continuing on another 16. In August alone, crews installed 214 kilometers of anti-drone protection on key roads.

The ministry said the routes require additional protection because they are used daily to transport essential supplies and military equipment and to evacuate civilians from dangerous areas.

Separately, State Special Transport Service units have repaired and maintained more than 600 kilometers of roads since April 2026, including 130 kilometers in August.
