Russian drone strike destroys 20 years of props and costumes from Zelenskyy’s former comedy studio
A Russian drone strike destroyed a warehouse containing costumes, sets and props accumulated over two decades by Kvartal 95, the comedy studio co-founded by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy before he entered politics.
The studio said a large collection of items used in its concerts, television shows, films and series was lost in the fire.
“For some, these are just things. For us, they are part of Kvartal’s long history,” the studio said. “Behind every set, costume and prop is the work of our team, filming, rehearsals and dozens of stories we created together with our audiences.”
No one was injured in the strike. Kvartal 95 said all of its scheduled performances would go ahead despite the loss.
“Russian weapons can destroy property. But they cannot stop us,” the studio said, adding that it would continue producing new material and supporting Ukrainian troops.
The shows will go on, the studio said - “with props or without.”
