Ukraine says six Russian aircraft hit in strike on Rostov military airfield

Ukrainian forces struck six Russian aircraft at a military airfield in Rostov-on-Don overnight, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Sept. 17.

Zelenskyy said Ukraine’s Security Service confirmed hits on one An-12 transport aircraft, two An-26 transport planes and three helicopters.

Explosions were reported near the military airfield overnight, with monitoring channels reporting possible secondary detonations.

The strike was part of a series of Ukrainian attacks on targets inside Russia overnight.
