Report claims Fire Point executive survived assassination attempt; police say they have no record of incident
A report that a senior executive at Ukrainian defense manufacturer Fire Point survived an assassination attempt near Kyiv has circulated online, but Ukrainian police say they have received no report of such an incident.
Journalist Sergei Auslender first reported the alleged attack, citing an unnamed source. He claimed that Fire Point chief designer and co-founder Denys Shtilerman was slightly wounded, one of his bodyguards was killed and the attackers were also killed.
Shtilerman later responded on X but did not confirm whether an attack had taken place.
“Rumors of my death or the death of my bodyguards are slightly exaggerated :)),” he wrote.
Ukraine's National Police told Ukrinform on Wednesday that it had received no reports concerning an alleged attempt on Shtilerman's life. Kyiv regional police separately said they had no information about such an incident.
Fire Point is one of Ukraine's prominent defense manufacturers, producing FP-1 and FP-2 drones as well as Flamingo cruise missiles.
Shtilerman previously said that his growing public profile had forced him to increase his personal security precautions, including avoiding spending two consecutive nights in the same location.
