Ukraine's longer-range FP-9 ballistic missile to be ready this fall, Zelenskyy says

Ukraine's new longer-range FP-9 ballistic missile, which its manufacturer says could reach Moscow, is expected to be ready this fall, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told Reuters.

Zelenskyy said he had personally called Ukrainian defense company Fire Point to push for faster development of the missile.

“I said to them, where is my FP-9?” Zelenskyy said with a grin. “We need the FP-9. And the FP-9 will be [ready] this autumn, I'm sure.”

Fire Point has said the longer-range missile could reach Moscow.

Ukraine announced the first combat use of its domestically produced FP-7 ballistic missile earlier this week. Reuters puts the FP-7's range at around 250 kilometers (155 miles).

Zelenskyy unveiled footage of the FP-7's first combat use on Oct. 1.
