Three children among 9 killed in Russian missile strike on apartment building in Pryluky

Nine people, including three children, have been killed after a Russian missile destroyed an apartment building in the northern Ukrainian city of Pryluky during a mass overnight attack, local police said.

Another 38 people were injured, including seven children. Emergency crews are continuing to search the rubble for people who may still be trapped.

The bodies of the three children were recovered from beneath the debris, according to police in Chernihiv Oblast.

Pryluky has declared three days of mourning following the attack.

The strike was part of a large-scale Russian missile and drone attack across Ukraine overnight on Oct. 7. Ukrainian air defenses said they shot down or suppressed 161 aerial targets, including 117 drones, five ballistic or anti-ship missiles and 39 cruise missiles.

Two people were also killed in Kyiv and two in Kremenchuk, bringing the confirmed nationwide death toll from the overnight attack to at least 13.
