EU disburses €1.24 billion for Ukrainian-made drones, interceptors and missiles
The European Commission has disbursed €1.24 billion to finance Ukrainian-made drones, drone interceptors, ammunition and missiles as part of the EU’s €90 billion support loan for Ukraine.
The funding comes from the defense component of the Ukraine Support Loan, which provides €60 billion for defense and €30 billion in budget support for Ukraine in 2026–2027.
The European Commission said the latest payment would both meet Ukraine’s urgent battlefield needs and strengthen the country’s domestic defense industry.
“Today's disbursement will help strengthen Ukraine's defence industry. And Ukraine's ability to defend itself. To protect people and infrastructure,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said.
The EU plans to disburse €28.3 billion in 2026 to support Ukraine’s defense industrial capacity. After the latest payment, another €15.4 billion remains available for that purpose this year.
Overall, Ukraine still has €32.5 billion in EU financial support available for the rest of 2026, including defense and budget assistance, with some funding subject to agreed conditions.
