Russian drones strike two DTEK energy facilities in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

Russian drones struck two energy facilities operated by DTEK in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in separate attacks on October 8 and 9, damaging equipment and causing a fire, the company reported.

According to DTEK, Russian Shahed-type drones attacked one facility on the evening of October 8.

A second facility was struck by a jet-powered drone on the morning of October 9.

The attacks damaged energy equipment and caused a fire, which has since been extinguished, according to Ukrainian media reports. No DTEK employees were injured.

“Despite the constant attacks, we are doing everything possible to ensure that every home has electricity,” the company said.

The strikes come amid intensified Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure ahead of winter.

Rolling power outages are in effect in several Ukrainian regions on October 9 as the country's energy system faces continued pressure from Russian strikes.

DTEK did not specify whether the two latest attacks had caused additional power outages or how many consumers, if any, were affected.
