Russian drone strike damages Naftogaz gas production facility in Poltava Oblast

A Russian drone strike damaged a gas production facility operated by Ukraine's state-owned Naftogaz Group in Poltava Oblast overnight on October 15, forcing the suspension of equipment operations.

Serhiy Fedorenko, acting chairman of Naftogaz's management board, said the attack caused a fire and damaged technical equipment at the site.

All employees were in shelters during the strike, and no injuries were reported.

Specialists are assessing the extent of the damage.

The attack comes amid intensified Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure ahead of the heating season.

On October 14, Russian forces struck all three of Kyiv's combined heat and power plants, as well as energy facilities in Kharkiv Oblast. Earlier attacks on power infrastructure also prompted emergency electricity outages in Kyiv and the surrounding region.

Naftogaz has not disclosed the facility's production capacity or how long the affected equipment will remain out of operation.
