Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council imposes sanctions against Poroshenko
The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine has imposed sanctions against MP and former President Petro Poroshenko, Forbes reported with reference to two sources, one of whom was present at the NSDC meeting.
Poroshenko has confirmed the information about the NSDC decision on sanctions and called it "anti-constitutional" and "politically motivated," and also stated that the entire team of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Cabinet of Ministers, and members of the NSDC are allegedly involved in this.
As one of the publication's sources suggests, it could be a "treason article." However, there is currently no official confirmation of this.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy mentioned the NSDC meeting in his evening address. He announced the decision and promised to publish it on February 13.
"We are protecting our state and restoring justice. Everyone who destroyed the national security of Ukraine and helped Russia must be held accountable. The billions that were earned by actually selling Ukraine and Ukrainian interests must be blocked and must work to protect Ukraine and Ukrainians," he said.
However, the president did not name any names, so it is unknown whether this applies to Poroshenko.
Earlier, the leader of the European Solidarity party stated that he was denied permission to travel to the Munich Security Conference, which will take place on February 14-16. Poroshenko also stated that the "authorities" allegedly handed him 15 summonses to the State Bureau of Investigation from February 14 to 28, for each day.
