The crash of the IL-76 in Russia: new details

The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine said that Russian military and political VIP representatives were supposed to be on board the IL-76 plane that crashed in the Belgorod region the day before. However, at the last minute, the special services forbade them to board the plane.

Andriy Yusov, a representative of the DIU, said that when the Russian side used air transport to transport prisoners before, it requested a ceasefire, which was not done this time.

According to him, there could have been only missiles on board, or missiles and people. According to intelligence networks, only five bodies were delivered to the local morgue in Belgorod the day before, which corresponds to the number of the plane's crew.

The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, also stated that it cannot be said that there were prisoners of war on the IL-76. According to him, this should be determined by international experts.

Meanwhile, the Security Service of Ukraine has opened a criminal investigation into the downing of the plane.

UAH 1.5 billion for artillery shells returned

Almost UAH 1.5 billion, which was illegally transferred abroad during the purchase of a wholesale batch of ammunition for the Ukrainian Defense Forces, has been returned to the state budget of Ukraine.

The Security Service of Ukraine notes that, with the assistance of the Ministry of Defense, during the pre-trial investigation in January 2024, a loss-making state contract with a special exporter for the purchase of a batch of artillery shells for the Armed Forces was terminated and the funds were returned.

Low-quality military uniforms worth UAH 25 million

The director of a Kyiv-based company was served a notice of suspicion of supplying low-quality uniforms to a local military unit.

According to the investigation, one of the Kyiv military units entered into a contract for the purchase of 3000 units of military clothing. The contractor was supposed to provide the military with uniforms worth over UAH 25 million. But later it turned out that the uniforms did not meet the technical specifications.

PACE resolution on Ukrainian children

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has unanimously adopted a resolution on the situation of children in Ukraine.

The European body called on the entire international community to adopt statements and/or resolutions at the level of national parliaments condemning war crimes against children and recognizing deportations, forced displacement, and unjustified delays in repatriation of Ukrainian children under Russian control as a crime of genocide.

Ukraine to build four nuclear reactors

Ukraine plans to start construction of four new nuclear reactors at the Khmelnytskyi NPP this summer or fall to compensate for the power capacity lost due to the temporary occupation of the Zaporizhzhia plant.

Two reactor units are planned to be based on Russian-made equipment that Ukraine wants to import from Bulgaria. The other two will use Western technology.

You can come to shelters with animals

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine has abolished the rule that prohibits bringing animals to shelters. From now on, people who take animals with them must be accommodated in separate rooms of the shelter.

In addition, the European Commission, together with Lithuania, confirmed on January 25 that they will finance more than 15 million euros to build shelters near schools in Ukraine.

Cyberattack on Naftogaz and Ukrposhta

On the morning of January 25, Ukrposhta reported a significant technical failure in its IT systems. Nevertheless, the post offices were able to deliver parcels and accept payments.

Naftogaz also reported a large-scale cyberattack on its data centers. The websites of the national operator's branches and the call center were down.

In addition, due to a technical failure of the data center, access to the Shlyakh system and the official website of the service was temporarily unavailable.
