US President Joe Biden announced additional $1 billion in military aid to Ukraine during a telephone call with Volodymyr Zelensky on June 15, the White House reports.

The package will include additional supplies of howitzers, ammunition and coastal defense systems. These are the weapons Americans intend to hand over to Ukraine first of all.

Also during a speech in Brussels before the meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (so-called "Ramstein-3"), US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that Washington and Kyiv were working closely to meet Ukraine's requests for new capabilities, especially its needs for long-range fire support, armored vehicles and coastal defense.

The package is expected to include weapons and equipment that can be quickly delivered from existing US stockpiles, as well as new long-term supply contracts for Ukraine.

Ramstein-3

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov hopes that following the meeting of the Ramstein-3 on June 15, significant practical results will be achieved in increasing the supply of weapons for the Armed Forces. This is especially true of heavy weapons.

Earlier, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin stressed that the United States, along with allies and partners from various countries, is ready to meet Ukraine's request to provide all necessary weapons to counter the Russian invasion.
