Background

In his evening video address on September 3, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he had decided to replace the Minister of Defense of Ukraine. This happened after a series of scandals with procurement by the Ministry of Defense.

As a result, on September 5, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Oleksii Reznikov from the post of Minister of Defense of Ukraine. He had been at the helm of the ministry for almost two years, since November 2021.
