Ukraine's parliament registers resolution on dismissal of Defense Minister Umerov
The Verkhovna Rada registered a draft resolution on the dismissal of Rustem Umerov from the position of Minister of Defense of Ukraine, according to the website of the legislature.
The resolution was registered by MP Oleksii Honcharenko from the European Solidarity faction.
The lawmaker claims that the Ministry of Defense under the leadership of Umerov was unable to "normally produce ammunition."
Supply of low-quality Ukrainian mortal shells to the army
The day before, the Ministry of Defense recalled domestic shells for 120 mm mortars. Before that, the network began to tell that these munitions do not explode and do not reach the target.
Earlier, journalists of TSN received videos of malfunctioning shells from the military. According to their data, the problem concerned various areas of the front and thousands of mines. The first complaints, they say, began to appear at the beginning of November.
Also, a video with low-quality mines was published by Censor.NET. The day before, the editor-in-chief of the publication Yuriy Butusov said that 100,000 shells of 120 mm caliber were recalled from the front.
After he told about the problem with the shells, "commissions, inspections, official investigations began, a lot of bureaucratic work began."
The Ministry of Defense says that the absence of their comments in the public space does not mean that the ministry "does nothing or does not respond to information that comes from the military or appears, in particular, in the mass media."
According to the preliminary results of the investigation, the possible causes of the defects could be, in particular, low-quality powder charges or violations of the storage conditions of ammunition, which led to their damage.
The State Bureau of Investigation has started criminal proceedings, and they promise to make "appropriate personnel decisions" regarding the responsible officials. In addition, the quality of mortar shells of other calibers will be checked.
