NATO Military Committee to visit Ukraine for first time in eight years
The NATO Military Committee will visit Ukraine in October, marking its first official visit to the country in eight years, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi said.
Drapatyi announced the visit following his first conversation with NATO Military Committee Chair Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone since taking over as Ukraine’s commander-in-chief.
During the call, Drapatyi briefed Cavo Dragone on the situation on the battlefield and outlined the Ukrainian military’s priorities, including long-range strikes, flexible infantry tactics and greater use of robotic systems on the front line. The two also discussed Ukraine’s air defense.
“Ukraine does not only receive support. We share combat experience that no one else has today, and it contributes to the security of the entire Alliance,” Drapatyi said.
Cavo Dragone reaffirmed NATO’s continued military support for Ukraine, saying allies across Europe and North America were increasing defense production and accelerating deliveries of military equipment.
“Ukraine’s security is our security, and we will continue to stand with Ukraine to help achieve a just and lasting peace,” he said.
