Norway pledges $9 billion for Ukraine in 2027, signs Drone Deal
Norway will provide Ukraine with about $9 billion in support in 2027, while the two countries have also signed agreements on drone cooperation and a broader strategic partnership.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the agreements following a meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in Kyiv.
Zelensky and Støre signed a defense cooperation agreement under the Drone Deal format, a model for long-term cooperation between Ukraine and partner countries. The initiative is intended to use Ukraine’s wartime experience, expertise, and technology to develop solutions that strengthen the partners’ shared security.
No further details of the agreement have been disclosed.
The two leaders also signed a declaration on strategic partnership dubbed the Elizabeth Agreement, named after Elizabeth of Kyiv, a daughter of Kyivan Prince Yaroslav the Wise who became queen of Norway in the 11th century.
“These documents strengthen the foundation for a long-term partnership between our countries in defense, energy, and the resilience of our people,” Zelensky said.
He separately thanked Norway for its decision to maintain a high level of support for Ukraine and allocate about $9 billion for 2027.
Støre is among several Nordic and Baltic leaders who arrived in Kyiv ahead of Ukraine’s Independence Day. The leaders of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Norway traveled to the Ukrainian capital for official visits.
