Ukrainian commander rescues two wounded soldiers after drone disables their evacuation robot
A Ukrainian assault company commander drove into an exposed area to rescue two wounded soldiers after a Russian drone disabled the ground robot sent to evacuate them, Ukraine’s Joint Forces Task Force reported.
The two soldiers from the 475th Separate Assault Regiment Code 9.2 had completed a mission and captured Russian positions when they were attacked by Russian Molniya drones on their way back, according to the military.
Both were seriously wounded and unable to move on their own. A ground robotic platform was sent to evacuate them, but it was also hit by a Russian drone, leaving the soldiers stranded in open terrain and exposed to further attacks.
As personnel at the command post searched for a way to reach them, aerial reconnaissance spotted a civilian pickup truck heading toward the area.
The driver was assault company commander Vladyslav Polskyi, who had set out to retrieve his soldiers himself, the Joint Forces Task Force said. He reached the disabled robot, loaded the two wounded soldiers into the pickup and drove them to safety.
