Russian troops attack Kryvyi Rih, hitting high-rise building. Children among wounded
Russian troops opened fire on the city of Kryvyi Rih — a high-rise building was struck with ballistic missiles with a direct hit, reported the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Military Administration Serhiy Lysak and the head of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council Oleksandr Vilkul.
According to the regional administration, a five-story building was damaged by the strike.
"‘Precision’ brutes hit a high-rise building with ballistic missiles with a direct hit. The emergency rescue operation is ongoing. We are all in place. Rescuers, and medics, and utility services," Vilkul wrote.
He reported that as a result of the attack, there were wounded and hospitalized, but did not specify their number.
So far, eight victims are confirmed. Among them are two children. A 10-year-old girl was treated on the spot. An 11-year-old boy is hospitalized in a moderate condition.
In total, three victims are in the hospital. In addition to the boy, hospitalized women aged 58 and 75.
The apartments from the first to the fifth floor of one of the entry sections were destroyed in the high-rise building. There may be people under the rubble.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy once again stressed that Ukraine needs weapons to protect against Russian terror and to provide stronger support to the world.
"Every day, every night, Russia commits the same terror. Except that an increasing number of civilian objects are becoming targets. Russia only wants to continue the war, and each of its blows refutes any statements from Russia about diplomacy," the president said.
