50,000 Ukrainian soldiers from various units to be transferred to Ground Forces for rotation - UP

Ukraine is transferring 50,000 soldiers to the Ground Forces to facilitate troop rotations and ensure adequate staffing of units, according to a report by Ukrainska Pravda, citing its sources.

In January, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi issued an order to transfer soldiers from various branches and units to the Ground Forces. The move aims to initiate a rotation mechanism, as the current number of trainees is insufficient to fully staff the units, but only to provide minimal reinforcement.

"Thanks to these transfers between the forces and recruitment, we will be able to do this. There is already an approved rotation plan," an unnamed source told Ukrainska Pravda.

The source also noted that the rotation plans are not related to potential peace talks or a freeze in the frontline, adding that rotations are possible even under full-scale war conditions.

Rotations on the frontline

Last year, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that despite the challenging situation across the entire frontline, it was possible to initiate a rotation process and replace units and subunits that have been performing combat missions on the frontline for an extended period.

This will reportedly help stabilize the situation and positively impact the morale of Ukrainian defenders.

Later, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reviewed the number of units not involved in combat operations. Some soldiers from these units were sent to the frontline. This, in particular, provided opportunities for the sequential sending of brigades for rest.

However, Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Hnatov noted that it is premature to talk about rotations, as Russia retains its offensive capability.
