Drones attack oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar Krai

Russia reported a drone attack on Krasnodar and the Afipsky oil refinery in Krasnodar Krai, according to the Telegram channel Mash and the Governor of Krasnodar Krai, Veniamin Kondratyev.

Drones attacked the city of Slavyansk-on-Kuban. Locals told Mash that they counted at least 10 explosions in the sky. The resource claims that the target of the attack was the Afipsky oil refinery. Russian air defenses destroyed at least five drones flying towards the enterprise.

As Kondratyev noted, the Tsentralny residential complex in Krasnodar was damaged as a result of air defense operations. The debris of the UAV fell on the technical superstructure on the 19th floor of the building.

Debris also damaged a house in the village of Afipskoye.

In total, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported the downing of 15 drones. In particular, seven UAVs were destroyed over Krasnodar Krai, and the rest over the Bryansk, Rostov, Belgorod, Kursk oblasts and over the temporarily occupied Crimea.

As Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, points out, the Afipsky Refinery is one of the key refineries in Russia, with a capacity of 6.25 million tons of oil per year.

It plays a strategic role in providing fuel for Russian military equipment, especially on the southern axis. The refinery's location makes it an important logistics center for the supply of diesel fuel and aviation kerosene used by the Russian army, Kovalenko points out.
