Drones hit Russia’s Syzran Oil Refinery, targeted in March 2024

Drones targeted an oil refinery in Syzran, Samara Oblast, Russia, a facility previously attacked in March 2024, according to local reports.

Samara Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev confirmed the strike, stating it hit “one of Syzran’s industrial enterprises.” He claimed Russian air defenses downed the drones and reported no casualties or injuries.

However, the Russian Telegram channel Astra reported that residents heard multiple explosions near the Syzran oil refinery, followed by a fire breaking out at the site.

The same refinery was hit by drones in March 2024, an attack for which Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) claimed responsibility.

The Syzran refinery, operated by Rosneft, processes millions of tons of oil annually, making it a strategic target in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
