Ukraine's intelligence strikes Novokuibyshevsk refinery, where fuel for Russian aircraft is produced
Ukrainian intelligence attacked the Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery in Russia’s Samara Oblast, which had already been under attack before, a source in the Defense Forces told hromadske.
Drones from the Main Intelligence Directorate struck the plant at around 2 a.m. In local chats, residents mentioned a series of explosions at the plant and noted that the facility had not had time to complete the installation of protective nets against drone attacks.
As our source says, the Novokuibyshevsk Refinery is the most powerful oil refining enterprise among the plants of the Samara Rosneft group, and its design capacity is over 8.8 million tons of oil per year.
In addition, the plant is one of the main producers of fuel for turbojet subsonic and some supersonic aircraft such as the Su-27 and Tu-22M3, which are used by the Russians to launch strikes on Ukraine. This refinery was attacked at least twice last March.
Earlier, the Samara regional governor, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, claimed that three drones were destroyed in the town of Novokuibyshevsk, and there were allegedly no fires or damage.
