Russia launches ballistic, cruise missiles, strike drones across Ukraine overnight
Russian forces launched Iskander-M, S-300/400 missiles, and Shahed drones across Ukraine overnight into April 17, hitting multiple regions, the Air Force Command reported.
The assault, which began at 8 PM on Wednesday, included two Iskander-M ballistic missiles from Russia’s Rostov Oblast, two S-300/400 anti-aircraft guided missiles from occupied Luhansk Oblast, and 75 Shahed strike drones and decoy drones launched from Kursk, Millerovo, and Chauda in occupied Crimea.
By 10 AM on April 17, Ukrainian forces confirmed the destruction of 25 Shahed drones across eastern, northern, southern, and central parts of Ukraine.
An additional 30 Russian decoy drones were lost to radar without causing harm, the Air Force said.
Ukraine’s defense involved fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare teams, and mobile fire groups.
The Air Force reported damage in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts resulting from the attack.
