Russian missile and drone attack kills six, injures dozens in Kyiv

Russian troops conducted a large-scale missile and drone attack on Kyiv and its surrounding region in the early hours of Monday, resulting in at least six deaths and dozens of injuries, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, Kyiv Oblast Military Administration head Mykola Kalashnyk, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES), and Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.

Multiple districts of the capital were hit. In Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district, a five-story residential building suffered significant damage, sparking a fire. By 8:30 a.m., the SES and Klitschko confirmed six fatalities in this strike.

In the Solomyanskyi district, a fire broke out on the roof of a business center.

In the Sviatoshynskyi district, a high-rise apartment window was damaged, and one entrance to a metro station, used as a bomb shelter, was affected, though no fires or injuries were reported there.

Explosions were also heard in the Podilskyi, Holosiyivskyi, and Darnytskyi districts. Social media reports indicated damage to buildings at the Kyiv National Economic University and Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI).

In Kyiv Oblast, Russian strikes targeted Bila Tserkva, Boryspil, and Bucha districts. In Bila Tserkva, a private hospital was hit.

One person was killed, and eight were injured across the region.
