A Russian ballistic missile attack on Kyiv overnight on October 19 destroyed a data center operated by Ukrainian telecommunications company Datagroup, leaving its equipment and infrastructure beyond repair.

Kyiv is developing a backup heating network with approximately 1,600 megawatts of thermal capacity as Russia intensifies attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, city officials said on October 9. The Ukrainian capital has also installed 700 generators to support water and heating systems, although major pumping stations still require larger power sources.

Kyiv's subway system temporarily suspended train services and escalator operations on Oct. 8 due to a drop in voltage from external power supply sources, city authorities said.
