Russia’s massive Sunday attack: Third body recovered from Kyiv building rubble
The death toll in Kyiv from Russia’s massive attack on Sunday has risen to three, according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service and Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration.
Rescuers retrieved the body of a man from the rubble of a destroyed nine-story building in the Sviatoshynskyi district. The victims include 32-year-old Viktoria Hrebeniuk, an employee of the charity 100% Life, and her two-month-old son, Roman.
20 others in the capital were injured, with seven hospitalized. A 24-year-old pregnant woman, critically injured during the attack, underwent an emergency delivery.
Multiple residential high-rises and the Cabinet of Ministers building sustained damage.
Background
From the evening of September 6 through the night, Russian forces launched 823 air attack assets on Ukraine: 810 Shahed kamikaze drones and decoy drones, nine Iskander-K cruise missiles, and four Iskander-M ballistic missiles.
Ukrainian air defenses neutralized or suppressed most, but nine missiles and 56 attack drones hit 37 locations, with debris from downed targets affecting eight sites.
In Kryvyi Rih, three men were injured, and casualties were also reported in Sumy and Zaporizhzhia oblasts from attacks on Saturday evening.
