Russian missiles and drones hit power plants in western Ukraine
Russia launched a massive overnight strike on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, including thermal power plants, prompting nationwide power outage schedules from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Ukrenergo reported.
Earlier, Energy Minister Svitlana Grynchuk described the massive missile and drone strike on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
"As soon as possible, rescuers, repair crews and power engineers will begin eliminating the attack's aftermath, restoring power and assessing damage," she wrote.
In particular, western Ukraine's regions came under fire: Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv and Vinnytsia oblasts. According to monitoring channels, Russian drones and missiles targeted local thermal power plants and combined heat and power plants.
In Ladyzhyn, Vinnytsia Oblast, where a TPP is located, efforts are underway after the Russian attack to launch water supply columns and an alternative heating system, as well as organize delivery of technical water, Ladyzhyn Town Council Secretary Oleksandr Kolomiets reported.
Meanwhile, DTEK company stated that Russians attacked their thermal power plants in various regions of Ukraine for the third time this night — "equipment seriously damaged."
Following this, Ukrenergo introduced nationwide hourly outage schedules from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., with volumes from one to two stages. Additionally, capacity limitation schedules from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. will apply to industrial consumers.
