Russian drone attack kills 3 children, father in Kharkiv Oblast
Russian forces struck a private home in Bohodukhiv, Kharkiv Oblast, with a drone overnight into Wednesday, killing three small children and their father, according to regional governor Oleg Synegubov.
Around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a Russian drone — preliminarily identified as a Geran-2 type — hit a residential house where a family of five lived. The family had evacuated from the village of Zolochiv just days earlier, police said.
The building was completely destroyed and caught fire, leaving the family under rubble, according to the prosecutors.
The dead include three children — a one-year-old girl and two boys aged one year and three months — and their 34-year-old father.
Rescuers saved the children’s mother, who is 35 weeks pregnant; she suffered blast trauma, a head injury, barotrauma and thermal burns.
A 74-year-old woman from a neighboring house was also injured, diagnosed with acute stress reaction and a hypertensive crisis.
Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets called the strike a deliberate war crime against civilians. “If the international community does not give a clear political and legal response to such attacks, Russia will continue them,” he said.
