Over 3,600 Russian troops neutralized in Ukraine's Defense Forces southern counteroffensive
During a counteroffensive operation on the Oleksandrivka axis, Ukraine’s Defense Forces have liberated nine settlements — seven in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and two in Zaporizhzhia Oblast — while clearing three additional settlements of Russian forces and restoring control over approximately 440 km², the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces reported on Facebook.
Since the operation began on January 29, Russian losses include:
- 3,676 troops (2,653 killed, 1,023 wounded, 11 captured)
- 8 tanks
- 13 armored combat vehicles
- 141 vehicles
- 250 artillery systems
- 153 motorcycles and quad bikes
- 1,283 fixed-wing drones
- 140 UAV control points
As of March 25, 9 settlements have been liberated, 7 of them in Dnipropetrovsk region, 2 in Zaporizhia region. Another 3 settlements have been cleared of the occupiers.
In this direction, the DShV group and adjacent units regained control over about 440 km².
Since the beginning of the operation, on January 29, the losses of the Russian Federation have amounted to:
- personnel — 3,676 Russian soldiers, of whom 2,653 were killed, 1,023 were wounded and 11 were taken prisoner;
- armored combat vehicles — 13;
- automotive equipment — 141;
- artillery systems — 250;
- motorcycles/quads — 153;
- tanks — 8.
- "Krylo" type UAVs - 1283;
- UAV control points - 140.
Ukrainian offensive
In February, the Air Assault Forces confirmed they were conducting an active operation on the Oleksandrivka axis. The goal of the operation is to disrupt Russian plans to advance into the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.
On March 1, Ukrainian forces reported breaking through Russian defensive lines, creating a bridgehead for further tactical advances.
Earlier, the Air Assault Forces said they had regained control of eight settlements and more than 300 km².
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that since the beginning of the year Ukrainian troops have liberated 460 km² of territory.
