Ukraine's 47th Magura Brigade captures four Russian soldiers using drones (VIDEO)
Soldiers of Ukraine’s 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade “Magura” took four Russian infantrymen prisoner using a drone on the North-Slobozhanskyi axis in Sumy Oblast, the brigade reported on Thursday.
The Russian soldiers had traveled 26 kilometers along a gas pipeline, then moved across fields and tree lines, attempting to reach Ukrainian positions.
They mistakenly believed they had captured Ukrainian fighters, but instead became targets of Magura troops and their drones.
Ukrainian forces used heavy bomber drones, including Baba Yaga, to pin down the Russians.
“Our soldiers had a mission: to secure a position in the forest plantation to prevent the enemy from reaching the settlement we are defending,” said one of the Ukrainian soldiers from Magura.
To preserve the lives of their own soldiers, drone operators then deployed smoke to force the Russian soldiers out of their shelter. The four Russians eventually emerged with their hands raised.
One of the captured soldiers said he had gone to war to pay 800,000 rubles ($9.712) in alimony to his wife. The others had been convicted of crimes and signed military contracts to leave prison.
