Ukrainian air defense downs 114 of 141 Russian drones overnight

Russian forces launched 141 attack drones at Ukraine overnight into Monday, with Ukrainian air defenses downing 114 of them, while strikes killed three people, including a child, in Odesa and cut power to 340,000 customers in Chernihiv Oblast, the Air Force Command reported.

Russian troops launched the drones of the Shahed and other types at Ukraine from directions in Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as from Hvardiyske and Chauda in occupied Crimea. About 80 of the drones were Shaheds, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said.

Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, drone systems and mobile fire groups repelled the attack. As of 8 a.m., air defenses neutralized 114 enemy UAVs in the north, south and east of the country.

26 strike drones hit 17 locations, while debris from downed drones fell in 13 other places.

Consequences of the attacks

In Odesa, a Russian drone struck a residential high-rise building, causing major destruction from the third to the fifth floors. Three people were killed, including a child, and 10 others were injured.

In Chernihiv Oblast, Russian forces hit energy infrastructure facilities, leaving 340,000 households without electricity.
