Russia launches 147 drones at Ukraine overnight, air defenses intercept 111

Russian forces launched 147 drones at Ukraine overnight on August 18, with Ukrainian air defenses intercepting or suppressing 111 of them, the Air Force reported.

The attack involved Shahed-type drones, Gerbera decoy drones and other types of UAVs launched toward targets across Ukraine.

Ukraine’s aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups, were involved in repelling the attack.

According to preliminary data as of 8:30 a.m., drone strikes were recorded at 19 locations, while debris from intercepted drones fell at three other sites.

Damage reported in several regions

In Brovary in the Kyiv region, Russian drones damaged an office building and warehouses, according to regional authorities. Fires broke out at three locations.

Five people, including a 9-year-old boy, were injured in an attack on Izium in the Kharkiv region. Five buildings were also damaged.

In the city of Kharkiv, a drone struck a gas station in the Industrialnyi district, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said.

Authorities were continuing to assess the consequences of the overnight attack.

In the morning, Russian drones attacked Brovary, Kyiv region — an office building and warehouses were damaged, and fires broke out at three locations, the OVA reported .

Five people, including a 9-year-old boy, were injured in a Russian attack on Izyum in the Kharkiv region , the head of the OVA, Oleg Synegubov, said . Five houses in the city were damaged.

In Kharkiv, a drone hit a gas station in the Industrial District, said city mayor Igor Terekhov.
