Russia launched 135 drones at Ukraine overnight on August 20-21, killing two people and injuring at least 10 in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, Ukrainian authorities said.
The attack included Shahed-type drones, including jet-powered variants, as well as Gerbera and Parodiya decoy drones, according to Ukraine’s Air Force.
Ukrainian air defenses shot down or suppressed 107 drones across northern, southern and eastern Ukraine as of 8 a.m. The Air Force recorded 27 drone impacts at 16 locations, while debris from intercepted drones fell at three other sites.
Several Russian drones were still in Ukrainian airspace as of the morning, the Air Force said.
The Sumy region came under a series of attacks, with eight people injured over the past day, according to regional authorities.
Three strikes hit residential areas in Konotop on the evening of August 20, damaging homes. No one was physically injured there.
Russian forces later launched a large-scale drone attack on the city of Sumy, with strikes recorded at four locations. A two-story residential building was heavily damaged, and at least two people were injured.
In the Kharkiv region, Russian forces struck the village of Lebiazhe in the Chuhuiv district, killing two women aged 66 and 73, regional governor Oleh Syniehubov said. Two other women were injured.
Residential buildings and other structures were also damaged in the village.
