Ukraine strikes major Russian oil refinery in Yaroslavl, General Staff says
Ukrainian forces struck the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery in Russia's Yaroslavl Oblast overnight into August 28, Ukraine's General Staff said.
A fire was reported at the facility following the strike, while the extent of the damage is still being assessed.
The General Staff described Slavneft-YANOS as one of Russia's largest oil refineries, with the capacity to process around 15 million metric tons of crude oil per year.
The refinery produces gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel and other petroleum products and is involved in supplying the Russian military, according to the General Staff.
Ukrainian forces previously struck the refinery in December 2025.
