Russian overnight attack kills 8 in Kyiv, including 6 railway workers; 3 more killed in Kyiv Oblast
Eight people were killed and five others injured, including three children, in Kyiv as Russian forces attacked the Ukrainian capital and surrounding region with ballistic and cruise missiles and drones overnight on September 1, Ukrainian authorities said.

Six of those killed in Kyiv were employees of Ukrainian Railways, or Ukrzaliznytsia, after Russian ballistic missiles struck a railway depot and other railway facilities, according to company CEO Oleksandr Pertsovskyi. One other railway worker was hospitalized with injuries.
Ukraine's State Emergency Service said the railway workers were believed to have been killed in Kyiv's Darnytskyi district, where extensive damage and fires were reported.
Damage was also recorded in several other districts of the capital. One person was killed when a non-residential building was hit in the Holosiivskyi district.
In the Solomianskyi district, four people were injured, including two children. Fires and damage to non-residential property were reported in the Dniprovskyi district.
Kyiv Oblast
The attack also caused casualties and extensive damage in Boryspil, a city east of Kyiv.
Two people were killed and three injured when a business was hit, while another person was killed after a vehicle repair shop was damaged, according to emergency officials.
A five-story apartment building was also damaged, and cars caught fire in a nearby parking area. Forty-eight residents were evacuated from the building.
Eight people, including a child, were injured in the residential area. A store and two private homes were also damaged.
