Russian missile strike on Kyiv injures 16, including children, damages kindergarten
A Russian missile attack on Kyiv overnight on Sept. 17 injured at least 16 people, including two children, and damaged buildings across several districts of the Ukrainian capital, city authorities said.
Nine people were hospitalized, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said. Two of the injured are children aged 10 and 12.
A kindergarten in Kyiv’s Dniprovskyi district was badly damaged in the attack. Its windows were blown out, walls damaged and a fence torn down by the blast. A crater was visible near the kindergarten, while a residential building across the street also sustained damage.
Elsewhere in the Dniprovskyi district, debris damaged an office building and a residential building and fell near warehouses and a gas station.
A non-residential building was reportedly hit in the Sviatoshynskyi district, while a warehouse was destroyed in the Solomianskyi district.
Water pressure was also reduced on Kyiv’s left bank and in the Solomianskyi, Holosiivskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts following the attack. Utility workers were investigating the cause.
