Russian attack near Polish border prompts evacuation of two crossings, Tusk says
Poland temporarily evacuated two border crossings with Ukraine on Sept. 24 as Russia attacked areas near the Polish border, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said. The crossings reopened after about half an hour.
The Dorohusk and Zosin crossings were evacuated for around 30 minutes, Polish broadcaster RMF FM reported. Traffic had returned to normal by noon.
“Ukraine was attacked again near the Polish border, and once again we had to evacuate border crossings,” Tusk said at a news conference in Warsaw following talks with Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev.
Earlier in the day, Poland’s Government Security Center twice sent alerts to residents of the Lublin and Subcarpathian regions over Russian attacks on Ukraine. Polish military aircraft were also operating in the country’s airspace.
Tusk said the repeated incidents were causing disruption and underscored the need for Poland to cooperate with Ukraine and prepare for further security challenges in the coming months.
