Russia launches 170 drones at Ukraine overnight, killing at least 4
Russia launched 170 drones at Ukraine overnight into Sept. 27, killing at least four people in Zaporizhzhia Oblast and Kyiv as the attack continued into the morning, Ukrainian authorities said.
Ukraine's Air Force said air defenses had shot down or suppressed 147 drones as of 7:30 a.m. The military recorded strikes at 18 locations and debris from intercepted drones at eight more.
Seventy-six of the drones used in the attack were jet-powered Shahed-type UAVs, according to the Air Force.
Three people were killed in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. One man died when Russia struck residential buildings in Komyshuvakha, where four other people were injured, while a man and a woman were killed when a vehicle was hit in Novotavriiske.
In Kyiv, a 56-year-old security guard was killed and three people were injured, including two 16-year-olds, according to city prosecutors. The attack destroyed a service station and more than 30 vehicles and damaged a school, offices, a restaurant and a gas station.
Russian strikes also injured one person in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and damaged civilian infrastructure in southern Odesa Oblast.
